How To Use This Site
I love books–especially children’s books. I also think it is important to use books with your students and your children to teach all sorts of subjects from academics to personal life skills. Authors write books to be read and used. This site is also dedicated to helping teachers, parents, and homeschoolers make their lives a little easier.
This site is organized like this:
If you want a specific book, find the author’s name under the category list. Click on the author’s name, and hopefully I have reviewed this book and provided three activities for you! If I haven’t reviewed that particular book by that particular author, please leave me a comment and let me know what you would like to see. I will try to do it.
I also have books organized into categories such as picture books, easy chapter books, middle grade novels, and young adult books. If you have a child or class at a certain age, you can browse through these types of books that I reviewed to see if there are any that you think your child or your students would enjoy. Remember, most of the books also have at least three activities or discussion points to go with them.
I also have organized posts by skills or subject matter. So, if you are looking for books that teach social studies content, then click on that category to find books on that subject. I have similar posts for reading skills, 6 traits of writing, books on science content, and so on.
Finally, this past August when my blog was a year old, I decided to post every day and have themes. So, here they are:
Maniac Mondays: I write about anything kid or education related that I feel strongly about.
Tuesday Tales: This is a regular blog post like I did the first year. I review a book and give three activities to go with it.
Wacky Wednesdays: I post some sort of Wacky teaching or parenting or homeschooling idea. I usually connect it to a book.
Timeless Thursdays: I talk about using some old book with your students or your children. Examples have been Make Way for Ducklings, Judy Blume books, and Shiloh.
Un-Forgettable Fridays: See Tuesday Tales. Same format, but it’s Friday.
You can find posts under these categories, too. If you want to see all my Maniac Monday rants for example, click on Maniac Monday, and there you go.
Leave a comment if you have a question for me! You can also email me at margodll [at] aol [dot] com.
