We choose this book as our book club book a few months ago. I agree with much of what you say. Interestingly, I think the book left a bad taste in my mouth because I grew up in a small town, with small town politics. It’s really like that, sadly. I had a very difficult time keeping up with who was who, especially in the first half of the book. By the time I left my book club meeting though (as often happens), I liked the book a bit more than when I got there!

    For me, it was ok.

I gave it 3 stars on Amazon–I really had trouble with the beginning and only stuck with it because I like J. K. Rowling. I’m interested in reading her new mystery.

The last Harry Potter book was way too long and dragged in the middle when they were in the tent forever. I understand the editor wanted to shorten it and JK said, “No.” She can be too winded at times.
