Vacation is over, and we haven’t quite finished moving–for now, all of our stuff is in storage. But it’s August, back to school for the kiddos soon, and back to blogging for me. First I want to announce the winner of the July contest and the recipient of a free 10-page critique from Editor 911 (that’s me). Drumroll please. . . it’s Elizabeth H. On Thursday, I’m going to start with my regular book review/three activities to go with the book blog posts. For today, I thought I’d share a link to an article I just wrote for Bright Hub about using picture books with third graders. This is a general article about using picture books with some specific titles for ideas that work well with third grade curriculum. However, you don’t just have to teach third grade or homeschool a third grader for this article to be useful. I cover why using picture books is important, how to use them with older elementary students, and where to find picture books kids will love.
