I am super excited to give away three more books from Rubicon Publishing today. This is an educational publishing company that is coming out with some fantastic and exciting books to use in the classroom. Please check them out here if you like what you see. You can also check out my last post about them.
I am giving away all three books below. These are picture books for a younger crowd–again if you don’t know anyone in the age group that would love these books, consider donating them to your local school/preschool if you win!
****To win one of these books, please leave a comment below, stating which one/ones you are most interested in and why. Winners will be drawn randomly from comments left by 9:00 a.m. CST Friday morning, August 6. Anyone can leave a comment, of course, but winners will be chosen from United States and Canada. Thanks for your support!
PS: If you would like an extra entry into the contest, please subscribe to this blog, “Read These Books and Use Them” by using one of the options over to your right–you can subscribe by email which means you will get new posts sent to your email OR you can subscribe by RSS Feed, which means that you can read new posts using a reader such as Google or Yahoo. On to the books:
- The Glimmering Thing by Christopher Cork is the story of Captain Chris and his first mate, Joshua (a dog), who are on their sailboat when they see a “glimmering thing” in the distance. This glimmering thing has rainbow colors and is high on the top of a mountain island. When they reach the glimmering thing, it turns into all sorts of magical adventures for Captain Chris and Joshua. This is perfect for young readers or even to be read aloud to small children as there are few words per page and beautiful illustrations!
- 10 Sleepy Dinosaurs by Wendy Frood Auger; illustrated by Les Drew: Who doesn’t love cute dinosaurs and counting books for young children? Here’s one you don’t want to miss. I love Les Drews’s illustrations! In this book, you start with one lonely blue dinosaur until he meets a pink one, and then there are two. The pattern continues helping children with colors and counting until you get to TEN very sleepy dinosaurs from a full day of activities. PERFECT for preschool children!
- A is for Alfie by Les Drew: Here’s an alphabet book, starring Alfie the dog and his friend the cat. Not only does this book go through Alfie’s day with the ABCs, but it also rhymes! And again, Les Drews’s illustrations are so super cute–kids will ask for this book again and again. I love ABC books.
Remember, if you’d like to win one of these, leave a comment below!

The Glimmering Thing sounds like such a sweet story. I have three children and each of them is up for anything “adventure” related. This seems like it would be a good nighttime read for them.

I think the dinosaur book sounds like something my nephew would love. It would also be great for when I work with my Iraqi friend on her English

I’d love The Glimmering Thing for my granddaughter who adores books!

It is so hard to say which one would be the best! Our three year old is obsessed with dinosaurs so that would be a great choice for him! Our six year old has learned to read so a rhyming alphabet book would be so great for him. It always seems like the cadence of a rhyming book works so well with beginning readers! Then, of course, there is the 7 year old who loves magic and fantastical stories! I guess we couldn’t go wrong with any of them!

Margo,
All those titles sound charming. The ABC book sounds like a sure bet for the preschool children at the elementary school in Waukegan.
I’ll keep my fingers crossed!

Rainbows, dinosaurs, cats, and dogs–all of my 5 yr olds favorite things! She is starting to read and these all sound like great books that she could share with her baby brother. The Glimmering Thing looks cute especially since his first mate is a dog! I’m so impressed with your website Margo! I’m going to share it with my friends.

Hi, Margo!
As a subscriber of your blog, I love visiting to learn about new books, especially with soon (any day now) five grandchildren. Books have always been the gift of choice in my family and my daughters have all shared this love with their children. Getting together usually results in either reading to the little ones, or discussing new books or latest reads with my girls.
Thanks for the opportunity to win a book.
Peace, Linda
