In Honor of Charlie

This is a different blog post today because my beloved dog, Charlie, shown in the picture above, passed away on Wednesday, and it is just still hard for my family to get back to our normal routine. But I wanted to blog today and share his picture with the cyber world. Charlie was a member of our family, and at 10 years old, he still chased squirrels, begged for popcorn and pizza, licked our face when we were sad, and did his Boxer dance when it was time to go for a walk or to Grandma’s house. He passed away peacefully on April 8, 2009 in his sleep; and for this, I am very thankful. He had no pain!
If you have children, you know how it is for them (and yourself) when your family loses a pet. One of my friends recommended Dog Heaven by Cynthia Rylant, and so there is a little blurb about it below. If you or your children need some help with the grieving process, this book might be a small answer.
Thanks for the opportunity to share Charlie with you!

Thanks, Donna! I hope everyone can have as special of a dog/pet as Charlie was to us.

Margo,
I followed you here from WOW after reading your blog there about Charlie. We have boxers and I know how special they are. Charlie was one lucky guy to have such a great Mama.
I love Charlie’s beautiful boxer smile.

Kerrie,
Thanks! Boxers are special dogs, and I am so thankful for the time we did have with Charlie.

Margo, bless your heart! Thank you for turning the loss of your dog into an opportunity to help a child deal with such a loss one day.
