How To Use This Site (Or How to Navigate it)

This blog is meant to be used. I am hoping teachers, parents, librarians, and even kids will find it helpful when choosing a book to read and/or using it for learning experiences in the classroom or at home.

You don’t have to use the book or post from today’s date. About four to five times a week, I write a blog post about a children’s or young adult book. I save the posts under the type of book AND the author’s name. I also save the posts under skills I recommend you teach with the book or activities I created to go with the book.

So, if you are looking for a good picture book to use, you can browse under the picture book list of authors on the right-hand side of this page and find a picture book for you and your child or your students. If you need to teach a particular skill, you can also use the guide at the right-hand side of the blog to find the skill from the list.

If you want a book by certain author such as Holly Black, then you can look under Black, Holly to find her name and which books I’ve written about.

Also, please leave comments about books you’ve read by the same authors or with similar themes. If you have read the exact book or used it with your child or in your classroom, please let us know what activities you did or discussions you had!
